Course: Maintenance Check Flight

Overview

The course can be scheduled upon request with a minimum of four participants from the same organization.

This training course is designed to qualify flight crew and support staff to plan, execute and document Level A Maintenance Check Flights (MCFs) in accordance with EASA SPO.SPEC.MCF.120. Level A MCFs are performed after major maintenance actions that may affect flight characteristics or systems critical to safety. These flights are governed by specific operational and regulatory requirements and must be executed by specially trained and approved personnel.
The course provides participants with the technical, procedural and operational knowledge needed to safely perform Level A MCFs.

Course Topics

  • EASA Regulation Overview: SPO, SPO.SPEC.MCF and related AMC/GM
  • scope and categorization of MCF levels (A/B/C)
  • aircraft system areas subject to MCF
  • pre-MCF inspection and documentation
  • MCF program planning and acceptance
  • risk management and flight safety strategy
  • test item evaluation and problem handling in-flight
  • Flight Test Instrumentation basics for MCF (if applicable)
  • final debriefing and report generation

A certificate of completion is issued for presentation to the competent authority as part of the operator’s compliance demonstration.

The course is complemented by extensive training in a Level D full flight simulator in cooperation with Lufthansa Aviation Training in Frankfurt and by various group exercises.

You may be new to EFT — but we’re not new to ambition. Our mission is simple: to become the best in flight test training and support. That means hard work, real accountability and a team you can count on. We give everything to help you reach your goals — and often, just a little more.

Rolf Hellbutsch, Accountable Manager

Training in flight test is not just about passing knowledge — it’s about building confidence, precision, and operational judgment. At EFT, we design every course to be demanding, relevant, and directly applicable. As Head of Training, my goal is simple: to make sure our participants leave ready for the mission — not just qualified, but capable.

Dr. Dieter Reisinger, Head of Training

At EFT, I focus on building a strong theoretical foundation that supports safe, effective flight testing. Seeing our students connect rigorous academic principles with hands-on practice is what makes this role so fulfilling.

Peter Hemmert, Chief Theoretical Knowledge Instructor
