Overview

This advanced training course is designed for test pilots and lead flight test engineers working in military flight test programs. Building on a completed EASA CAT 2 or CAT 1 qualification, the course fulfills the German military requirements for achieving a MIL Test Authorization (TB 2 or TB 1). It is also well-suited for professionals in military or defense industry settings who require focused T&E training or refresher experience.

The program emphasizes hands-on testing of military aircraft, both propeller- and jet-powered, and includes extensive flying across multiple operational locations in Europe. It develops advanced flight test competence through an intensive combination of flight exercises, simulator sessions and instruction on relevant military procedures and standards.

Course Topics

• performance, handling qualities and systems testing for military platforms
• operational vs. developmental test concepts and mission profiles
• application of MIL-STDs and MIL-HDBKs
• system safety assessment and military risk mitigation strategies
• external stores and weapons integration, including live or simulated loads
• testing of sensor systems
• simulation-based tactical testing in a military-representative environment

Students will carry out multiple missions in military aircraft, gaining real-world exposure to the technical, procedural and safety aspects of operational military flight test programs.

Prerequisites:

• good understanding of math and physics
• current medical examination proving physical fitness or class 2 or class 1 medical certificate
